Biography
Violinist Sun Jung Lee received master's degree and graduate diploma from New England Conservatory in Boston where she worked with James Buswell and is currently finishing her doctoral degree at the USC Thornton School where her principal teacher is Martin Chalifour. As a member of chamber ensembles and orchestras, Ms. Lee has performed in many places, including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, Seiji Ozawa Hall in Lenox, and Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California, as well as performing frequently in recitals and as soloist with orchestra, such as Long Island Youth Orchestra and Seoul National Symphony Orchestra. A native of Seoul, South Korea, Ms. Lee was a recipien! t of Kwanjeong Foundation Scholarship and has been selected as the awardee of Pi Kappa Lambda the National Music Honor Society in 2011 for her exceptional musical activities and academic excellence. Ms. Sun Jung has won top prizes in Seoul National Competition, Iwha Competition and third prize in International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition. As active chamber musician, she has worked with members of renowned chamber groups and musicians as Anton Kuerti, Robert MacDonald, Samuel Rhodes, Borromeo String Quartet, Brentano String Quartet, and St. Lawrence String quartet. She participated and performed in several festivals which include Tanglewood Music Center, Banff Centre, Taos Summer Festival, Mozart Salzburg Festival, Pacific Music Festival, International Holland Music Sessions, ENCORE Summer Festival. Ms. Lee had master classes from Zakhar Bron, Donald Weilerstein, Ida Handel, Herman Krebbers, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Igor Ozim, Felix Andrievsky, Jan Stanienda, David Cerone, and Eric Rosenblith.
